Why LCN? Legacy People Community Property

Throughout its history, Lehigh Coal & Navigation has been an integral part of the community.

From its earliest days as a principal employer and pioneer in the coal mining industry, LCN has been a contributor to the prosperity of the Panther Valley.

Today, LCN continues its legacy by revitalizing the coal mining process, making its property safe and secure and contributing to the well-being of the community.

LCN is proud of its connections to the community including the

  • No. 9 Miners Museum, the site of a donated Lehigh Coal & Navigation mine where the history, heritage and tradition of coal mining is preserved for generations of local and regional visitors
  • the Mother Jones Public Park built on LCN land to provide a recreational facility for the residents of Coaldale
  • access to LCN land by the Borough of Coaldale for maintenance and road cleanup
  • an agreement with the Borough of Coaldale to enhance and expand its Police Department with a goal of providing heightened security on the LCN site leading to an improved level of safety and well-being for the people of the community
  • land access for St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital
