Water
As part of its recycling effort, LCN is the only
anthracite coal company that treats its water
to improve its quality before being discharged
into public streams.
In addition, advanced technology and practices
have been adopted at the new Greenwood breaker
so that:
- 100% of the water used in the process is recovered,
decanted, and recycled back into the system
for
re-use and that
- No waste water will be discharged.
Coal
LCN has identified millions of tons of coal that
in the past had been considered "waste"
in previous generations.
Thanks to new and better technology, like the
new Greenwood breaker, this material, once considered
refuse, can now be harvested and processed as
a valuable resource from silt banks and other
bank materials.
The new breaker also incorporates a step that
extracts recyclable water during the process leaving
behind coal silt that is pressed into cakes for
use as fuel for co-generation of electricity.
